If you know a North Texas teen or young adult who loves fashion more than anything, there's a group of working professionals in Dallas ready to help him or her take the next step into a real career.
The Pro Artist Group, an organization of artists with more than 75 years of collective fashion experience, is holding a series of summer camps called Project Fashion Camp.
Students will learn every aspect of the fashion industry, from one side of the camera to the other, plus meet with experts including magazine editors, TV personalities, agency directors and more.
A portion of the proceeds from the camp benefit the American Cancer Society.
Director Jeanette Chivvis, celebrity stylist and fashion designer with 20 years of industry experience, leads the team. Other members include Paige Anderson, a professional hair and makeup artist; Randy Anderson, a 30-year celebrity and commercial photographer; and Eric Oliver, Jr., owner of Protege by EOJ, a fashion event production company.
The camps are five days long. The first session is from July 9 to July 13; the second is from August 6 to August 10.
Students as young as 13 years old can learn more about the business that generated more than $304 billion in 2009, and has been growing steadily.
