Police in DeSoto are trying to unravel the story behind an early-morning shooting in an upscale neighborhood.
A neighbor called police about 4 a.m. after hearing a moaning sound, then several gunshots in the 500 block of 10 Mile Drive.
Police said it appears as though a group of three men and one woman tried to invade the home. Two of the men rushed through the front door armed with an AK-47.
They were met by two men inside the home who also had guns. A gun battle followed, police said.
"They went into the home using force and armed. And they met armed residents and they lost," said Captain Ron Smith with the DeSoto Police Department.
One of the intruders, Christopher Vason, was shot and killed. Another unidentified suspect was found injured outside the house.
Two other suspects, Fabian Flores and Alexxis Gonzales, were later arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.
The two residents were questioned and released.
It's all troubling for neighbors, including one who said she found a bag of drugs in her backyard.
"Saw a bag back there and come to find out there's some drugs in there," said Michele Willis.
"We have a good neighborhood and for this to happen, we just don't want this to happen again," added Patricia Pothen.
