Entire Alaskan town gets free Taco Bell

Posted: Updated:

Several flyers were posted around Bethel, Alaska in June saying a Taco Bell would be built in the town.

This turned out to be a hoax advertisement and brought false hope to the people of Bethel.

"Every time I go to Anchorage, people ask me to bring back tacos from Taco Bell, because everybody really likes Taco Bell out here," one resident said.

The letdown got the attention of Taco Bell corporate offices who then decided to make 10,000 free tacos for the residents of Bethel and deliver it to them via helicopter.

"I know what it is like to crave something and get excited like its actually going to show up, its like telling my five year old he going to have an ice cream Sunday and not actually deliver," said a Taco Bell spokesperson. "I couldn't let that happen to people."

The town of 6,000 residents lives without large retail stores and fast food chains and is located 400 miles from the nearest high way.
