Teen says she was randomly attacked at park

An Atlanta teen said she was randomly attacked at Perkerson Park. An Atlanta teen said she was randomly attacked at Perkerson Park.

A local mom is warning other parents about a dangerous and violent game being played by area teens that involves random people being beaten up.

Davyana McClarin says she was terrified when she came to an Atlanta park with her little sisters and brother and a group of about 15 teens jumped her.

"All of the other girls gathered around and started beating on me," said McClarin.

Davyana says the group "free-picked" her. "Free pick" is when a group, typically made up of teens,  picks a person at random to beat up.  Davyana's mother says she only recently learned about this violent game among teens

"It's serious because she could have been killed. She could have been killed...She had knots in the back of her head. They pulled out a lot of her hair," said Shaleeka Reid.

Davyana says the group of teens chased her into the street, one of the boys caught up with her and grabbed her by the hair, knocking her down.

She said the teens that beat her up are cowards and says she's not going to let them stop her from coming back to the park.

"Just because you jumped me doesn't mean you took my freedom away to come to this park," she said.

Atlanta police say they had another case of free-picking last month. A boy was the random victim that time. His attack was videotaped which helped police make an arrest in that case.
