A Fort Worth doctor recently added something pretty rare to his list of accomplishments. He delivered a baby boy decades after delivering both of his parents.
Dr. Fredrick Carrington has been delivering babies in Fort Worth for 35 years.
"No, it doesn't get old. It doesn't get old at all," he said.
Over the years he has delivered babies for mothers that he also delivered. But he's never delivered baby, mom and dad before – until now.
Dr. Carrington brought Jeff Pate into the world 32 years ago. A year and a half later he delivered a bouncing baby Amanda.
Nine years ago Jeff and Amanda tied the knot and 10 days ago Dr. Carrington delivered their son Grant at Texas Health Southwest.
"It makes you have a step back at reality, but this was the first that we've done where I actually have delivered both," he said.
The link to the family was actually discovered about four years ago when the Pates' daughter was born.
"I guess it was his mom might have asked who I was seeing. I said Dr. Carrington and she said oh he delivered Jeff. And I said well, he delivered me," Amanda said.
This story might have been written four years ago when the couple's daughter was born but the doctor was out of town.
"This time he was like I'll try to be around and we'll try to really make this to where it'll happen," Amanda said.
And it will likely happen again soon. Dr. Carrington delivered another expecting mother and her husband and is scheduled to deliver their baby.
So three generations of deliveries could be his next goal.
"I keep expecting sometimes somebody's gonna come in and say I've delivered all of them but that hasn't happened yet either," he joked.
