A necklace stolen from a home in WestlakeBurglars hit the homes of two prominent athletes and a successful doctor in the town of Westlake. And police believe all three break-ins happened on the same night.
The victims include former Dallas Cowboys star Hershel Walker, PGA golfer Brandt Jobe and Dr. Gabriel Shahwan, all residents of the private golf course community of Vaquero.
Police said the thief or thieves managed to go unnoticed in the guard-gated subdivision on the evening of July 4.
They got away with an undetermined amount of cash and expensive jewelry from Walker's home. He did not notice the burglary until a few days later.
They also took cash and jewelry including a watch valued at $34,000 and a bracelet worth $26,000 from Jobe's home.
Dr. Shahwan told officers he was out watching the fireworks with his family when the burglars broke into his home. He called police when he returned at about 10 p.m.
"It appears the individual who broke into that home broke into other homes. We determined that by looking at how they got in," said Lt. Brenda Slovak. "We're looking at if there's any correlation between the three houses, any kind of correlation between service workers, maids or that kind of thing."
Keller police, which serve the town of Westlake, encourage anyone with information about the stolen jewelry or the burglaries to contact them.
