Parents in St. Paul Park didn't make it to the hospital for their first daughter to be born… not even close.
"We got I don't know, half way to my house and she starts screaming she has to push," said the baby's grandma, Amy Dudrey. "I said no honey you can't push you have to pant."
"Next thing I knew I heard a baby crying," says proud dad, Tom Dudrey, who was in the backseat on the way to the hospital.
Without enough time to drive from St. Paul Park to St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul Taylor Kreider says her contractions were on top of one another, and she couldn't stop her self from pushing in the car. Along for the ride, her future mother in law in the drivers seat, and her fiancé and 2 year old son in the back seat.
"I was pushing I can't help it I can't stop and she came out, she came right out into my pants, "says Kreider. The cord was a little bit around her neck, not dramatically but I took that over her head."
At about 3:15am Amy pulled the car into the parking lot of the St. Paul Park Police and Fire Department.
"It was scary, that was the biggest I was terrified," says Amy
Tom hung up with the hospital and instead called 911. "The 911 lady was telling me to rub her chest and wrap her up right away,"
St. Paul Park Officer Rick Redenius arrived within a minute or two and gave the baby oxygen.
"Once the baby started crying with that massaging it relaxed me a little bit more," says Officer Redenius
Everyone says Kreider stayed calm the entire time.
"I could tell it was crazy around me but I was so focused on her and figuring out what I need to do try to keep us together," says Kreider. "Everything else around us was just silent."
Both parents and grandma are thankful the officers were cross trained one as an EMT the other a paramedic.
"I remember the one EMT was so proud, like I cut the cord! It was pretty cool," says Kreider
"Well I have my own kids so I've cut the cords on them, but first time delivering a baby or assisting delivering a baby while on duty yeah," says Cottage Grove Officer/ Paramedic Matt Foucault.
Baby and mom are both doing well at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul. This is Kreider's third child and her first girl.
The baby weighs 7 pounds 6 ounces and her parents are deciding between the names Hazel or Isabella.
