Jennifer Myers

I grew up in Columbus, Ohio where the hail is small and tornadoes are rare, but that didn't stop me from having a passion for weather since I was very young. I can't even remember a time when I wasn't completely obsessed with the sky. Some of my earliest memories of childhood are playing in the rain in the summertime, or using the bathroom pass at school whenever it rained so that I could watch storms.

By the time I was in high school, I owned nearly every weather program available on VHS and turned every school project into something related to severe weather.

I had known since middle school that the best college program for severe weather in the nation was the University of Oklahoma. I never even applied to another college. It was Oklahoma or bust.

I spent eight years in Oklahoma going to school or storm chasing. I graduated from OU in 2010 with a B.S. in Meteorology and minors in Mathematics as well as Journalism and Mass Communication. I spent three years on OU's award-winning live college newscast OU Nightly, even earning second place nationally in the weathercaster category in the Broadcast Education Association's Festival of Media Arts in 2010.

Although I loved my time on-air, it was storm chasing that continued to fuel my passion for severe weather while I lived in Oklahoma. I had quite a few close calls with a couple of large tornadoes, but no matter how close or how dangerous the chase became, I knew I was exactly where I wanted to be.

I spent two years in the desert at ABC-7 in El Paso, Texas as the weekend morning meteorologist and weekday reporter. As much as I loved living in the borderland, being in a place that received less than 10 inches of rain per year just wasn't for me. You never truly appreciate rain until you go eight months without seeing it.

Having the chance to do what I love in a city like Dallas is a truly amazing opportunity and there's no other place I'd rather be than at Fox4. If I don't have the opportunity to chase the storms, I'm hard at work at home on Facebook and Twitter with the latest weather updates, photos and videos to keep you ahead of the storm.
