An outspoken Dallas pastor is asking members of his congregation to visit Chick-Fil-A restaurants this Wednesday to support the chain's CEO.
On Sunday, Pastor Robert Jeffress told the First Baptist Church members that supporting CEO Dan Cathy's stand against gay marriage is a First Amendment right.
Many city leaders, like the mayors of Chicago, Boston, and San Francisco, have publicly denounced the restaurant, saying the chain was not welcome to expand in their cities.
Jeffress believes that attitude is contrary to the American ideal separation of church and state.
"I'm saying if the government can stop a business from expanding because it doesn't agree its views, there's nothing to keep government from prohibiting the expansion of churches because government doesn't agree with the church's position," said Jeffress.
Social conservatives have been spreading the word to visit Chick-Fil-A restaurants on Wednesday, August 1 to show support.
