Five young men have all testified that during the spring of their senior year of high school, their English teacher invited them to her Arlington home and had sex with them.
On some of these occasions, the young men said Brittni Colleps and the teenagers engaged in group sex.
On the witness stand this morning, John Smith, a pseudonym, said Colleps had three students over for a spaghetti dinner.
Smith testified that
after dinner, Colleps brought out a collection of sex toys and showed them to
her students, modeled some lingerie and then took the trio to an upstairs
bedroom to have sex.
Another time, with four of the teenagers there, one of the
young men took out a cell phone and recorded the sex acts.
Defense counsel
pointed out that on the video the teenager looked "excited" to be there and
asked him if he felt like a victim then. He replied, "No." The attorney asked
him if he felt like a victim now and he again said, "No."
Colleps was a first year teacher at Kennedale High School when the alleged sex encounters occurred.
When confronted with the video, text
messages, and statements by the five students, she resigned her job and her
teaching certificate was taken away.
Colleps has a husband and three children.
She faces two to 20 years prison on each of the five counts against her. It is
also possible jurors could give her probation if convicted.
