MELBOURNE, Fla. -
Police in the coastal Florida town of Melbourne arrested a 47-year-old woman who passed out in a motel parking lot when she was supposed to be watching a child.
Stacy Kerres, of Fort Pierce, is charged with child neglect.
Police found her semi-conscious and half-naked last week when someone called to report a 5-year-old boy had been left alone for nearly an hour. The child's mother was apparently gambling and left the boy in Kerres' care.
According to FloridaToday.com, Kerres appeared incoherent and lethargic to police. When they asked her who she was babysitting, she reportedly replied, "I don't even know where (the boy) is right now."
Police were unable to contact the mother.
The little boy is now with the Department of Children and Families.
