
UPDATE:
There is more information on a man arrested for a weapons violation and drug possession in Downtown Dallas.
Witnesses said Johnson Nguyen of Richardson was arguing with people in a parking garage near Main and Field Streets. The witnesses say he pulled a semi-automatic rifle from his truck and waved it in the air.
The other people fled and called police.
Officers searched the parking garage and found Nguyen in his truck with a few other people. There was no gun in sight.
When the other occupants started to get out, police allegedly saw Nguyen grab something from the back seat. A police search turned up a Romanian AK-47, several live rounds of ammunition, and a small amount of cocaine in Nguyen's pocket.
He was arrested for disorderly conduct and felony drug possession.
ORIGINAL STORY:
A 21-year-old man from southeast Texas is behind bars after police spotted him carrying a loaded AK-47 in downtown Dallas.
Johnson Nguyen of Richards is facing a charge of disorderly conduct/displaying a firearm. He is also charged with cocaine possession.
Alarmed passersby called police to a parking garage at the corner of Main and Field Streets about 2:30 Thursday morning when they allegedly saw Nguyen point the gun in the air.
Nguyen was taken into custody without incident. Police confiscated the weapon along with 20 rounds of ammunition.
There's no word yet on why he was carrying the rifle.
