Claudine Edwards loves animals. So does her husband, Jason. He's an engineer, she's a stay at home mom. They have three children, aged 16, 7 and 8. Claudine used to volunteer at Second Chance SPCA. After she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and had successful surgery...she knew what she wanted to do.
Claudine said her surgery gave her a second chance at life and she wanted to do the same thing for animals. For two years, Claudine and Jason have opened their home to foster 27 dogs and three cats...and counting.
Second Chance SPCA in Plano is a no-kill shelter. It's a small shelter so they rely on people to open their homes to foster dogs and cats for anywhere from a few days to a few months until the animals find their forever home.
Foster families are given all of the food, medicine and shots their 4-legged houseguest needs. The only things foster parents provide are a home, love and time.
On September 15th a special "Valentine's Day" event at Second Chance SPCA will encourage pet adoption and foster pet parenting.
If you'd like to be a foster parent call Second Chance SPCA at 972-424-0077 or log to www.scspca.org.
