Fewer than a dozen homes were evacuated Monday morning because of a gas line accident in Denton.
According to the Denton County Emergency Management Office, a construction crew working on new lanes on Highway 380 accidentally cut a 6-inch gas line near Smith Road.
The accident closed the highway in both directions.
The line was shut off, and fire officials evacuated about 10 homes in the immediate area. The emergency management office also advised residents within a one-mile radius to shelter in place.
By 10 a.m., the gas had dispersed and everyone was allowed back home. Traffic on Highway 380 was reopened in both directions.
