Police are investigating a double shooting that happened on a Mansfield ISD elementary school playground late Tuesday night.
Two men in their late teens or early 20s were shot on the grounds of Glenn Harmon Elementary School on Petra Drive.
According to Sgt. Chris Cook of Arlington Police Department, multiple people called 911 when they heard shots ring out about 10:45 p.m.
Officers rushed to the scene to find one man shot in the head near some playground equipment, and a second man at a nearby home.
"The second man was trying to escape," said Sgt. Cook "He was struck by a gunshot as well, but he was able to make it to a neighbor's to knock on the door."
Both men were taken to a local hospital.
Officers from both the Arlington police and Mansfield ISD police were on the scene late into the night to search for weapons, shell casings or any other evidence.
"What we don't want to happen is obviously for a kid to show up and accidentally find a weapon or any other contraband," said Sgt. Cook.
Right now, police have no suspects in the shooting, but they are interviewing other people who were on the playground as well and hoping to get a description of the shooter.
