A stray cat is really throwing his weight around at the Richardson Animal Shelter.
UPDATE: Skinny moved to no-kill East Lake Pet Orphanage
The orange and white tiger-striped kitty is nicknamed "Skinny" even though he tips the scales at 40.9 pounds.
Shelter workers point out that Skinny is just a few pounds away from making the Guinness Book of World records.
However, that's not going to happen. Skinny is on a strict low-calorie diet and needs plenty of play time to work off the weight.
"Obviously, he's clearly overweight," said Dennis Wooten with the animal shelter. "Be cognizant that you don't overfeed your pets."
The shelter says Skinny showed up in a Richardson resident's back yard last week -- perhaps looking for food.
The 5-year-old cat's been neutered, friendly, and ready for a new life in a new forever home.
