A 29-year-old Bedford man was arrested Monday night in last year's deaths of his ex-girlfriend and their baby son.
Arlington police say on March 20, 2011, Thomas Olivas killed 28-year-old Mechelle Gandy and set fire to her Arlington apartment.
The couple's 1-year-old son, Asher Olivas, died in the blaze at the complex in the 2200 block of President's Corner Dr.
The medical examiner ruled that Gandy had been stabbed to death before the fire was set.
Police say Gandy had recently asked Olivas for child support payments, and police believe that may have provided the motive for the killings.
Olivas was arrested Monday night at a sports bar in Hurst. He'll be arraigned on a capital murder charge Tuesday morning. Bail was set at $1 million.
