Hour-long chase ends in Arlington

Posted: Updated:
ARLINGTON, Texas -

A man who sped away as a sheriff's deputy tried to pull him over on a traffic stop is now behind bars.

Police say 24-year-old Michael Scott Combs and his female passenger led Dallas County Sheriff's deputies and other police officers on an hour-long chase that went through four cities.

The pursuit began in Duncanville when a deputy tried to pull over the red Honda on I-20 near Cedar Ridge Drive.

Instead, police say Combs took off, eventually traveling through Grand Prairie, Arlington and Mansfield.

The Dallas police helicopter helped track the car, which eventually went back to Arlington.

That's where both suspects jumped out of the car in a neighborhood near Ida and Jocyle Streets.

The suspects managed to hide, but several officers searched the locked-down neighborhood with K-9 dogs and eventually found both.

Combs was arrested, and the female passenger was briefly detained, then released.

There's no word on why he chose to flee.
