Rancher threatened, dogs mutilated

Posted: Updated:
FORT WORTH, Texas -

Police are investigating a disturbing case of animal cruelty. The victim said he and his family were also threatened.

Jacob Dyer was shocked by what he discovered recently at the Fort Worth stables where he trains horses.

"You can see where blood splattered all around the stall. You can see where the dogs tried to jump out," he said.

Dyer said someone killed and then mutilated his two border colliers, which were work dogs.

"If you put a price on them… I can't put a price on them. A market value, yeah $3,500 to $5,000, but to me they can't be replaced," he said.

The rancher said he believes the killer is someone he's been in a disagreement with. He said he left a disturbing, typed note nearby that included threats.

"He put my personal address on the paper and said the same way he described killing those dogs, he said he was going to do the same thing to my family," Dyer said.

He also found a pair of his boots cut up near the scene. The suspect covered them with profanity and messages like, "You're dead b!@#$."

Dyer said he won't be able to rest until the person responsible is caught.

"He described himself as a psychopath, a sociopath. He described the whole scene of doing this as being beautiful," he said.

Fort Worth police said they are actively investigating the case.
