The Wylie Police Department now believes five Chihuahua puppies found dead outside a Wylie home were killed in an animal attack, not shot and stabbed.
She later found three of them dead with what appeared to be knife and pellet gun wounds. Two of the dogs were never found.
The family also claimed the dead dogs were arranged in a peculiar position, like they were staged.
However, the police department said a certified forensic veterinarian determined there were no pellets or bullets inside the dogs' bodies and that all three sustained "internal hemorrhage and lung damage in their thoracic cavity."
The dogs died from "exsanguination secondary to bite injuries, most likely from another dog or predator," the report said.
