DeKalb County police say more than four dozen self-storage units were damaged at the Public Storage facility on in Decatur on Wednesday.
The police report states 52 units were broken into and damaged at the facility, which is located on Snap Finger Woods Drive. Victims said someone pilfered through their belongings to steal only the best stuff.
Bobbie Pettiford opened her unit to find a jumbled mess of boxes and belongings. Pettiford said that her most expensive belongings were stolen.
"My P90X is gone…I had a telephone in that drawer that's gone…can't see where my flat screen TV," said Pettiford.
Lauren Green said a TV, a couple of computers and a jar of her mother's money were stolen from her unit last Wednesday night.
"The guy up here says they took a lawnmower, a weed eater, his two TVs and some more stuff out of his unit," Green said.
These victims and the others are wondering who and how someone got away with ripping into so many units.
The facility is equipped with a video surveillance system, but according to DeKalb County police, it did not capture any images of the perpetrators involved.
The police report states that it's likely they came and went through the woods.
Bobbie Pettiford said that a sawed-off shotgun was found in her unit and confiscated by police.
Officials with the storage unit business did not return FOX 5's request for comment.
