Car stolen with child inside, police say

Posted: Updated:

A Dallas mother and her child were reunited Thursday night after someone stole the woman's car -- with the youngster still inside.

According to a police report, the woman stopped at a convenience store on Great Trinity Forest Boulevard at Jim Miller Road about 9:45 p.m.

With her son asleep in the back seat, the woman left her unlocked car, with the keys in the ignition, and went inside.

When she came out again, she saw someone driving off in her car.

About 15 minutes later, police say the suspect let the child out of the car in front of the Murdeaux Villa apartments and told him to "go to his momma's."

Someone at the complex noticed the crying child and brought him inside, where they called police.

The child was not hurt, but the suspect and the car, a purple 1999 Crown Victoria with a paper tag, are still missing.
