The Rangers limped into the playoffs and now their postseason is over.
They took on Baltimore at the Ballpark in Arlington in the new one game wildcard playoff round.
The Orioles struck right away, in the first inning.
But pitcher Yu Darvish settled down, and held the Orioles to two runs, and struck out seven.
Once Darvish left, Baltimore took advantage of the Rangers' shaky bullpen, adding 3 runs.
The Rangers had one last shot in the 9th.
With the bases loaded, and the tying run at the plate, David Murphy flied out to end the game.
Final score 5 to 1.
"I'm not stunned. I was right there watching it. As I said a little execution.. its a different situation but it isn't so I've gotta live with it," said manager Ron Washington.
"We stopped playing like the Rangers. I don't know why that is. It just happened," said David Murphy.
Fans leaving the Ballpark were disappointed and confused by the late season meltdown, but applauded the Rangers for making the playoffs for three straight season.
Here's a sampling of the reaction from fans:
"They just lost their focus .. I don't know what happened."
"I think it was a great season but I think towards the end they just didn't fight as hard as they wanted to as last season.. last two years," said Al Guio.
"You know we lost this about a week ago against the A's, when they lost against the A's, that's when they lost this," said Riley Gilfeather.
For now, it's wait 'till next year.
The Rangers open up next season April 2 on the road against the Houston Astros.
