West Nile kills healthy Watauga man

WATAUGA, Texas -

A Watauga man who was otherwise healthy died recently because of the West Nile Virus.

Tarrant County health officials said the man was his 40s had no underlying medical conditions.

No other details about his identity were released.

His death was the ninth associated with West Nile in the county and the 34th in North Texas.

There have been eight deaths in Tarrant County, four in Collin County, two in Denton County and one in Ellis County.

Also on Monday Dallas County said its 18th victim was a person who lived in the 75001 zip code, which includes Addision.

Symptoms of the West Nile Virus are similar to the flu with moderate to high fever (102 degrees or more), severe headache, severe muscle ache or joint pain, severe eye pain, mental changes, fatigue, nausea and respiratory symptoms, health officials said.

Anyone with symptoms should check with a physician.
