ARLINGTON, Texas -
An iconic symbol of the Arlington skyline is gone.
Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m., engineers toppled the 200-foot tall Texas Chute Out ride at Six Flags over Texas.
The ride, which opened in 1976, originally featured baskets to sit in. More than 29 million people have enjoyed the view from the ride.
In its place, the park is building a new ride called the Texas SkyScreamer, which promises to be the tallest free-standing swing ride in the country.
