Dogs maul Fort Worth girl

Posted: Updated:
FORT WORTH, Texas -

A 7-year-old was rushed to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after being mauled by two Rottweilers in her neighborhood.

Fort Worth animal control officers said the attack happened around 3:30 p.m. on Royal Drive as the little girl and several other children were walking home from school.

Witnesses said the girl was bitten on the arms and head. She is in serious condition but her injuries are not considered life threatening.

"I heard a girl screaming. She was like, ‘Help, help. Somebody help.' So I came and looked out my front door and I just seen two dogs going like they were just mauling the girl," said Thomas Harps.

He said he has a hearing problem but still heard her calls for help and was able to pull the dogs off of her.

Witnesses said neighbors had called animal control earlier in the day to complain about the dogs.

Their owner was given a citation and both animals were picked up.
