A Plano Senior High School student didn't like the idea of some students being left out this homecoming season so she rallied her fellow Wildcats to give them a very special surprise.
Junior Vicky Blitshtein formed the Caring Cats club after she noticed many special needs students were left out when everyone else was placing their homecoming orders.
She had no trouble finding friends to help make 34 garters and 18 mums.
"I just though like, ‘Why aren't they getting a mum too?' No one has ever made that group of kids a mum," Blitshtein said.
Rebecca Shmukler owns Dynamic Therapy, which put up $500 to buy all the supplies.
"They might have special needs but they don't have special wants. They want to be participating. They want to have fun. They want to build memories," she said.
The students will receive their mums and garters next Thursday right before homecoming weekend.
