American Airlines on Thursday announced it will further reduce flights in order to improve overall quality.
According to a memo AA sent to its employees, the cutback will total about 1 percent of its flights and will be in effect through the first two weeks of November.
The statement from the bankrupt carrier read, in part: "We are encouraged by the improvements we are seeing in some of the performance metrics we use to measure our operation, with some showing better trends than others. However, overall, we are not yet back to the levels our customers deserve and expect from American."
AA said it would work to ensure the measures "have a minimal impact on our customers and will re-accommodate them quickly to limit the disruptions to their travel plans."
In fact, AA said the cutbacks would not impact its customers' holiday travel plans.
American flight delays and cancelations have been widespread as the airline dealt with staffing shortages and maintenance issues.
