HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) - Southeast Texas authorities say a 10-year-old boy shot and wounded his 15-year-old sister before fatally shooting himself.
Walker County Sheriff Clint McRae said Friday that the boy walked into his sister's room and fired several times in her direction before turning the gun on himself.
McRae says their mother was at home at the time and called 911 after hearing the shots and going to see what happened.
The siblings were taken by helicopter to a Houston hospital about 70 miles to the south. The boy was pronounced dead. His sister underwent surgery.
McRae says she was listed Friday in critical but stable condition.
He says the case remains under investigation.
