Storms roll through north Texas, cause outages

Posted: Updated:

Strong winds and rain swept through north Texas overnight.

And despite a few severe weather watches, there was no severe weather reported in the metroplex.

Still, there were some problems. Some people woke up in the dark.

At one point, Oncor reported that some 21-thousand homes and businesses were without power.

That number dropped to 7-thousand by 7:30AM.

There were also problems for drivers.

Pools off standing water forced part of I-35 in Dallas to close overnight.

Drivers, heading northbound, were diverted to exit at the Oak Lawn exit after several cars stalled on the highway.

The rain also caused problems for people driving through the city of Hurst.

Several vehicles gave out in standing water in an area under construction at Airport freeway and Precinct Line.

Even though it was a mess, in several spots, there were no reports of any major wrecks or injuries.
