KELLER, Texas -

Police shot and killed a shoplifting suspect in Keller Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. inside the Kohl's store on South Main Street.

Kohl's employees had detained the suspect after catching him trying to steal something. But when an officer arrived to arrest him, police said he resisted.

Police said there was a scuffle. The suspect grabbed for the officer's gun so the officer, fearing for his life, fired multiple shots at him.

He was taken by air ambulance to a local hospital where he later died.

The officer suffered some minor injuries in the scuffle.

No employees or store patrons were hurt.
