Almost two thousand
people showed up to the Great Commission Baptist church in Fort Worth to pay
their respects to pastor Danny Kirk.
The 53 year old was the
pastor at the Greater Sweet Home Baptist church. Organizers had to hold the ceremony at a
neighboring church to accommodate the volume of people who showed up.
Police say a week ago
Derrick Birdow crashed his car into the church where Kirk was the pastor. Investigators say Birdow also beat Kirk to
death, with a guitar.
At the service, Kirk's
wife was moved to tears by her son's eulogy of his father. He sang one of his father's favorite songs.
The 17 year old high school junior, Danny
Kirk Junior, reminded those in attendance that his father is not dead, he is
sleeping in the arms of the lord.
