A 19-year-old man is behind bars for leading police on a chase from Grand Prairie to DFW Airport late Thursday night.
Grand Prairie police public information officer Lyle Gensler says an officer first tried to pull over Ramiro Cano for speeding near I-20 and Great Southwest Parkway about 11:15 p.m.
Instead, Cano sped off and led police on a chase through several cities.
Eventually he reached International Parkway at the south entrance of DFW Airport in Irving, and tried to turn around in the grassy median.
Police say Cano's truck spun out and came to a rest, facing an oncoming officer. Cano then rammed a squad car, police say, and was about to ram it again when other officers pinned his truck in the median.
Police discovered a handgun under the truck's front seat.
A female passenger with Cano was briefly trapped in the truck but was not seriously hurt. She cooperated with police and is not being charged.
However, Cano is facing felony evasion, assault on a public servant, and a weapon charge.
