Plano man's death investigated as homicide

PLANO, Texas -

Detectives are examining clues to see if they can figure out how a Plano man died in his own home.

About 8 p.m. Sunday night, a female relative, who had been out of town, went to a home in the 3000 block of Royal Oaks Drive where she lived with the victim.

As soon as she walked into the home, she recognized something "wasn't right" and immediately left the residence and called police.

Responding officers found 50-year-old Bill Tanner's in a back bedroom, surrounded by an "abnormal amount" of blood.

The case is being investigated as a homicide.

Police said Tanner's red 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck is missing.
