Teen killed while walking to the store

Posted: Updated:

A 13-year-old Dallas boy was shot and killed overnight while walking to a convenience store.

Deaudray Edwards left the America's Best Value Inn Motel on Preferred Place in Oak Cliff at about 2:30 a.m. to go to a nearby store. He had been staying at the motel with some teenage friends.

Police said he was shot in the head and died just a few feet away.

Officers had responded to the same motel three hours earlier. A 37-year-old man was also shot in the head, but he survived.

Police believe the cases are connected, but no one from the department would provide any details about why.

So far, no arrests have been made in either case.
