Four armed men robbed several Clark Atlanta University students near the campus library on Monday night.
Two women left the library and were walking back to their rooms around 8 p.m. when they were approached by the robbers on Mitchell Street, near the Heritage Commons dormitory.
One robbery victim said the men appeared to be college students who acted like they knew the area. They were wearing all black and had guns, she said. The men demanded the students' belongings.
"I did freeze for a bit. And then I tried to see what tactics I could take. Should I run? Should I give them my stuff? I was just thinking, thinking. The last thought I thought was, ‘What would happen if something happened to me? What would my parents go through? What would my friends go through if I had gotten shot,'" said the victim.
That victim's mother, Nicole Johnson, is demanding answers about school security.
"Parents nor students need to go through this. They should be able to walk the campus…They give examples: ‘you should not walk alone.' She was not walking alone. You have four gunmen in your face, what can you do," said Johnson.
A school official told FOX 5's Morse Diggs that it is difficult to secure an urban campus. The school is urging all Clark Atlanta students to request an escort from police if they are out at night, even only walking a couple blocks.
