A 75-year-old woman died early Wednesday morning after her rented home caught on fire.

A neighbor spotted the flames coming from Maritta Brown's home in the 700 block of E. Roberts Street in south Fort Worth.

The neighbor called 911, and firefighters arrived shortly after 1 a.m.

Brown was found inside on a sofa, overcome by smoke and burns. She was rushed to John Peter Smith Hospital, where she later died.

Firefighters were able to get the flames under control quickly, but the home was heavily damaged.

So far, investigators have not said what caused the fire.
