Gunshots could have caused deadly crash

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS -

A 27-year-old man died early Wednesday morning after crashing his car into a tree, but the impact may not have caused his death.

Dallas police responded to an accident call in the 2600 block of Lawrence St., near CF Hawn Freeway and Hatcher Street just before 1 a.m.

They found Kimothy Marquis Pace behind the wheel, in critical condition. Paramedics rushed him to Baylor Medical Center, where he later died.

As police looked more closely at the car, a witness came forward to say Pace may have been shot about three miles away.

Before the crash, police say the victim may have been involved in some sort of argument along Malcolm X Boulevard and Hatcher Street.

Between the crash scene and the altercation site, police found an empty shotgun shell, indicating Pace may have been shot as he was driving away.

Police are still investigating and looking for a suspect.
