Dallas police on Tuesday arrested two people they said abducted a man from the city's Medical District during the weekend.

Juaquai Gregg and Shuntocqua Shine, both 31 and both from Dallas, are each charged with aggravated kidnapping.

According to investigators, the pair abducted the unidentified victim at about 2 p.m. on Saturday from 1407 Medical District Drive, near the intersection of Stemmons Freeway and Inwood Road.

Police said the victim was taken to an unknown apartment, where he was stripped naked, placed in a bathtub and tortured for several hours by means including beatings and burnings.

They said he was then taken to a hotel room guarded by a woman but was able to escape and flee to Oklahoma.

However, police said, the victim returned to Dallas to speak with investigators, leading to the arrests of Gregg and Shine.

Gregg has a criminal record and is being held on a bond exceeding $1.2 million.

Shine is being held on a bond of nearly $300,000.

Dallas police initially described the kidnapping as involving several male perpetrators and said the investigation was ongoing.
