ATLANTA (AP) - There's a backlash to the backlash over the cancellation of a speaker at a major Jewish book festival in Atlanta.
Peter Beinart was originally 1 of 52 writers invited to speak at this week's Book Festival of the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta, which attracts about 10,000 people each year.
But some local Jews pressured organizers to cancel Beinart's appearance, because they disagreed with his criticism of Israeli and American leaders who support Jewish settlements in Palestinian territory.
Now Beinart is scheduled to appear at a new sold-out event Wednesday night in the city, organized by those who were upset by the cancellation.
