NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. -
A 29-year-old man is accused of trying to pass fake bills he created -- with the wrong portrait on the front.
Police say Dana Leland used fake $100 bills with Abraham Lincoln's portrait on the front. Actual $100 bills have Benjamin Franklin's face, while Lincoln appears only on the $5 bill.
Leland is accused of using the bogus bills to pay for socks or other items under $25 at a Massachusetts Target store. He tried to take the change in cash and leave.
Prosecutors say Leland has a counterfeiting record in his native Rhode Island. His next court date is Dec. 11.
