Fort Worth investigators got a break in the case involving a bold and brazen heist at a cellphone store.
But police said that wasn't their first robbery. Before they hit the T-Mobile store on south Hulen Street, they also robbed three Metro PCS stores in Fort Worth and Euless, all within a five-day stretch.
"The folks we talked to who were actually inside the stores when it was occurring all said they were terrified. They all said they thought they were going to die," said Detective Brian Raynsford with the Fort Worth Police Department.
Investigators used surveillance video and witness descriptions to identify their suspects. They also tracked the stolen cellphones.
They arrested 20-year-old Christian Gadlin and 18-year-old Xavier Killingsworth for the crimes. Two other suspects -- 23-year-old Deandre Wells and 20-year-old Devorshe Swain – are still on the run, they said.
"Our investigation to this point indicates this is a loose knit group of individuals, most of whom lived in Arlington or knew each other from Arlington. Most of the phones when they were stolen were divided up among the individuals and either sold online or to people out in the street," Raynsford said.
