Police have arrested two men charged after a standoff in Cartersville.
The Rome News-Tribune reports the confrontation happened Friday evening. Witnesses reported seeing a man fire two shots. The suspected shooter and another person were reported to be inside a room at the Parkway North Apartments.
Police evacuated nearby residents. Officials said police tried to get the suspects to come outside, but they refused. Both men eventually surrendered. Police said they found a dismantled 20-gauge shotgun in the apartment.
Officials said 28-year-old Jesse Tyler Sanderson was charged with felony obstruction, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Authorities said 34-year-old William Donald Garland was charged with being party to a crime and felony obstruction.

The fox that bit two Newton County elementary school students while they played on the playground is still on the loose. Animal control authorities tell FOX 5 someone from Rocky Plains Elementary School reported a fox sighting on campus one day before the boys were attacked.
