Joyce Jeter-Mitchell lives upstate in Syracuse but for the last month has been in New York City while her daughter, Kitt Jeter, 45, was undergoing treatment.

Kitt had a baseball-sized tumor removed from her brain. Doctors operated on the right side of her head three weeks ago. Kitt not been the same while recovering, her mother said.

The 5-feet 5-inch, 120-pound Kitt was seen on surveillance video leaving the Milstein Pavilion of Columbia University Medical Center on 166th Street on Sunday around 7 p.m.  Kitt had a scarf on her head.

Police said she was dressed in a black leather jacket, blue hospital pants and pink slippers. Police from the 33rd Precinct in Washington Heights designated Kitt a missing person on Monday.

Her mother is concerned Kitt is lost and wandering around the city.

But the scarf she was wearing may be significant. Kitt had asked her mother and daughter for a scarf several times last week. The scarf could be used to cover up the big scar on the side of her head.

Also to note, her mother said Kitt is in a methadone program because of drug addiction. She doesn't know if Kitt left on purpose.
