On the eve of one of the busiest times for holiday travel the Transportation Security Administration is helping to remind passengers about the latest security measures now in place.

There are some new changes being made that are expected to make traveling easier and faster.

TSA Federal Security Director Robert Ball says if you are traveling make sure you are giving yourself enough time with packing and try to get as much in your checked baggage as possible. That helps reduce time at the check point. As we get close to Thanksgiving the holiday crunch can get bigger.

There are some new rules though.

Frequent fliers will still need to go through security checks, but it is modified and faster. Children under 12 years old and seniors over 75 years old can keep their shoes on. Part of the goal is to also reduce the number of pat downs.

Ball says, 'we look forward to a very successful holiday season, with the air carriers, the airport and other vendors who support this effort each year, to make sure we're all prepared and can make this part of the holiday season smooth for travelers."

The bottom line the TSA says is to leave a little extra time to prepare for the holiday rush. One additional reminder, leave you guns at home. The TSA confiscates approximately three weapons a day from passengers who in most cases say they simply forgot they were in their luggage.
