The driver of a Jeep survived, but one of his two passengers died after the car they were in went off the road and flipped early Wednesday morning.
The trio were headed north on Highway 360 about 2:45 a.m. when the Jeep Cherokee went out of control between New York Avenue and Camp Wisdom Road.
The SUV flipped several times, ejecting the two passengers -- neither of whom were wearing seatbelts, Grand Prairie Police say.
One of the passengers, 18-year-old Lokuekim "Jessy" Kipasa, died. The other, 21-year-old Donte Pierce, was taken by helicopter to the hospital with serious injuries.
The driver, 21-year-old Ashlee Straker, literally walked away from the accident. Police found him later at his home, disoriented and injured. He also was taken to the hospital.
Officers believe alcohol may have been a factor and are now awaiting toxicology test results.
The driver could face charges of failing to stop and render aid. Investigators say he had a cell phone with him, but never used it.
