DALLAS -
A 21-year-old man is recovering in Parkland Hospital after his girlfriend allegedly poured hot grease on his head while he was sleeping.
Antonio Coleman of Dallas was in stable condition Wednesday morning, hours after the attack.
According to a police report, Coleman was asleep in his apartment off the 9700 block of Forest Lane when he woke up screaming shortly after 11 p.m.
The report says Coleman's girlfriend, who is apparently pregnant with his child, had awakened him by dumping the hot grease, then ran out the door.
An apartment security guard living next door heard Coleman's screams through the wall and ran over to help. The guard called police and 911.
Coleman's face and left shoulder were "visibly burned" and he was in too much pain to give a statement to police.
A DPD spokesman says the girlfriend has not yet been arrested.
The couple has been dating about eight or nine months, the report said.
