FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - A North Texas auto repair shop owner has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for fatally shooting a fired worker during an argument.
Jurors in Fort Worth convicted Arthur Foley Jr. of murder. He was sentenced Tuesday for the May 2011 death of Brandon Sibley.
Foley testified Sibley was intoxicated during the incident in which the ex-worker and the shop owner's sister got into an altercation.
Prosecutors say Sibley questioned Foley's claim that some speakers the former worker left at the shop, as collateral for a loan, were stolen during a burglary days earlier. Sibley raised allegations of a possible insurance scam.
Prosecutors say Foley submitted more than $33,000 in fraudulent claims after saying his shop was burglarized in 2009. Foley also has convictions for auto theft and burglary.
