Dallas officer dies in off duty crash

The Dallas police department is grieving the loss of an officer who was killed in a car wreck.

Sr. Cpl. Recardo Trejo was off duty, driving near San Antonio Saturday morning, when he was involved in the crash.

He was a 36 year veteran of the department and assigned to the southeast division.

He was heading back to north Texas after celebrating Thanksgiving.

Dallas police chief David Brown issued a statement, saying in part, "I am saddened to report the death of Senior Corporal Recardo Trejo," and  please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
