For 10 years creative women have made a difference in the lives of thousands of North Texas children and adults. These talented women are retired but they were nurses, educators, wives, mothers; leaders...you can call them the Sew & Sews.
The Sew & Sews are residents of Presbyterian Village North in Dallas. Once a week they gather in an upstairs activity room to sew, knit and crochet. They donate their items to Ronald McDonald House, Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, the Dallas Police Department, Dallas Fire Rescue and Faith Presbyterian Hospice. The women make chic caps for chemotherapy patients, helmet liners for soldiers, comfortable pillows and more.
Because of the Sew & Sews; Faith Hospice Presbyterian is able to give grieving families a special gift. Memory Bears are made from the clothing of the deceased and are given to the families. Memory Bears have personality and come in plaid, gingham, silk, Red Raider red, Longhorn Burnt orange, a Super Bowel t-shirt..whatever the deceased loved to wear. Families love this lasting, cuddly tribute.
The Sew & Sews also make Birthday Bears. Cute. colorful bears with happy faces and beautiful ribbons. Birthday Bears cost $10.00 and help the Sew & Sews buy more sewing material. If you'd like to buy one or several Birthday Bears you can call the Sew & Sews at Presbyterian Village North...214.355.9000
